Summer Arts CollegeDuring the Summer of 2008 and 2009 CYDT was commissioned by South London ISSP and Croydon Youth Offending Team to manage a Summer Arts College for 10 young people. The programme entailed the young people attending for 25 compulsory hours each week in accordance with the ISSP community based order. The SAC programme involves a minimum of 3 arts forms to be studied and produced for their art portfolios..
The CYDT programme was rigorously evaluated and monitored by the Programme Manager, and the chosen art forms were Music, DVD and filmmaking and photography. The young people completed portfolios for a Bronze Arts Award and in 2008, 7 young people successfully completed the programme and achieved the award, and 4 young people achieved the award in 2009. CYDT is very proud of the young people’s achievements and two young people have performed their music track at a regional event since the end of the programme. DezireDezire is a project formed and managed by a group of young people who successfully applied for YOF funding. The programme is dance-based with capacity to work with 24 young people for the period of a year. Mystery ShopCYDT have been funded to undertake a piece of work on behalf of Connexions, consulting young people on their experiences of Connexions based services. The project also supports and trains young people, to be panel members, for the recruitment of Connexions employees.
